Job Description:
Join our team at NCH, an independent non-profit committed to
delivering premier healthcare services! We are seeking a Registered
Nurse for our CVICU unit located at 350 7th Street North, Naples,
FL, 34102. This is a full-time position with a work schedule of 12
hour night shifts. The Registered Nurse - Critical Care is
responsible for independently planning, implementing, and
evaluating nursing care utilizing standards of care, policy, and
procedure. In addition to providing direct nursing care to
patients, the Registered Nurse also assumes leadership and teaching
responsibilities. The ideal candidate will be able to participate
in shared decision making and contribute to unit committee and
quality improvement activities with minimal supervision. Essential
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop plans that include strategies to attain expected
outcomes
- Implement plan of care interventions and medical plan of care
as appropriate
- Coordinate care delivery
- Utilize patient teaching to promote health and safety
- Evaluate progress toward outcomes
- Practice ethically
- Integrate evidence and research findings into practice
- Contribute to quality nursing practice and shared decision
making (SDM) by supporting council decisions, implementing
decisions, and actively participating in SDM
- Communicate effectively in all areas of practice
- Demonstrate leadership in the professional practice
setting
- Collaborate with patient, family, the inter-professional team,
and others in the conduct of nursing practice
- Utilize appropriate resources to plan and provide nursing
services that are safe, effective, and financially responsible
- Practice in an environmentally safe and healthy manner
- Complete Adult ICU Systems Assessment and integrate findings
with other aspects of EMR
- Demonstrate competency with monitoring skills, including
cardiac rhythm interpretation, pulse oximetry, invasive and
non-invasive monitoring waveform interpretation, and hemodynamic
measurement and interpretation
- Knowledgeable in indications of critical care specific
medications/infusions and safely administers, titrates, and
monitors effectiveness
- Demonstrate safe use, knowledge, and troubleshooting of
equipment specific to the critical care environment
- Maintain critical care specific competencies annually
- Participate in multi-disciplinary rounds (MDRs) Education,
Experience, and Qualifications:
- Candidates with Critical Care experience that will not be
entering fellowship program: Minimum of 1 year of experience in
critical care and licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Advanced
Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the State of Florida. BSN
strongly preferred.
- Candidates WITHOUT Critical Care experience and New Graduates
RN that will complete fellowship program: New graduate nurses will
be considered for program, and BSN is preferred. Must be licensed
as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse
(APRN) in the State of Florida. Required to sign a Fellowship
agreement which includes a 2-year employment commitment to remain
in Critical Care in a full-time position after completion of
training
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required from the
American Red Cross or American Heart Association. Advanced Life
Support (ALS) certification required from the American Red Cross or
American Heart Association. Basic computer knowledge: ability to
operate a PC, create/save/print documents, input data.
- Additional Requirements for CVRU nurses: Minimum of 18 months
of critical care experience including experience in post open heart
recovery critical care.
