  • Staffing Resources Float Pool (ICU/MS/Tele/PCU)
    • Job Requirements
    • ACLS, BLS required
    • Must have at least 1 year in ICU setting
    • RNs required to titrate drips
    • Travelers must be comfortable managing the majority of drips like Heparin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Nitro, Dopamine, Dobutamine, Insulin
    • Nurses must be able to interpret strips
      • Schedule Information
      • Shifts 7-7 for AM and PM
      • Scheduler for float pool will make the schedule
      • Schedule is published 6 weeks out for 4 weeks at a time
      • Travelers will need to be flexible
      • Night shift will try to accommodate for block scheduling
      • Weekend Requirements: Every Other
      • Holiday Requirements: Will include travelers in perm staff rotation
      • On-call or standby required on shifts when excessive staff
        • Unit Specific Information
        • Float Pool includes ICU, MedSurg, Tele, and PCU across both campuses
        • Nurse:Patient Ratios: PCU 1:4, MedSurg Tele 1:5-6
        • Common diagnoses: Geriatric patients, ortho patients, post-procedural cardiac cath
        • Charge Nurse/House Supervisor: Present, will not take assignments
        • Nurse aids utilization in all settings
        • RT Equipment in use: CPAP, BiPap on the unit, Monitor techs monitor PCU and Medsurg Tele
        • Scrub Color/Dress Code: Solid color professional scrubs, changing to Navy scrubs in October
        • Unit/Department specific orientation: 8 hours general hospital, 12 hours shift at West MedTele and PCU at West
