  • Specialty: ED Holds/Tele
  • # of beds: CRMC 60 ED Beds, MGMC 31 ED Beds
  • Ratios: 1 to 4
  • Common diagnoses/Types of patients: ED holds waiting for placement on a unit, primarily MS/Tele
  • Will be caring for patients from the ER who are waiting on a bed in the hospital.
  • May be asked to help with ED patients including vitals, IV starts and medication administration. Will not be asked to be primary RN for ED patient assignment.
    • Job Requirements
    • Must have a strong cardiac tele background, preferably 2 years.
    • Must be able to manage cardiac drips per physicians' orders and parameters.
    • Are RNs required to titrate drips?: Yes
    • Common titratable &/or set rate drips: Cardizem, Heparin, Amiodarone
    • Nurses must be able to read & interpret strips.
      • Schedule Information
      • Shifts & Scheduling: 12 hr shifts (7a - 7p or 7p - 7a)
      • Ability to self-schedule; however, this could change from time to time.
      • Weekend Requirement: 4 weekend shifts in a 4 week schedule.
      • Holiday Requirement: Rotate in with the perm staff
      • Floating Requirements: Would float to med/surg/tele/overflow units and CRMC/MGMC EDs as needed.
        • Unit Specific Information
        • Charge Nurse/House Supervisor: ED charge nurse.
        • Are there nurse aids on this unit/Ratios: ED PCTs available
        • RT Equipment (vents, Cpap, BiPap, etc): No Vents
        • Is there tele on this unit? Monitor Techs? RNs read strips?: No monitor tech in the ED.
          • Additional Details
          • Travelers will need to pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to start, through UNA, only (with 2 max attempts).
          • There is also a PASS/FAIL SIM LAB on day one of orientation. If they fail, they will be sent home.
          • Scrub Color/Dress Code: Navy
          • Unit/Department specific orientation: 2 shifts orientation to Med/Surg/Tele at primary campus.
          • First to float, could float to sister facility, CRMC.
